MEET TEAM BALANCE
Brandy has been competitive in gymnastics for over 30 years as an athlete, coach and judge. She also was a NCAA Pole-vault All-American. She holds a Bachelors degree in Fitness & Exercise Science as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She is a RN with a passion for cardiology.
Matt has been a fitness enthusiast his entire life through weight training,
running, powerlifting, Cross-fit and more. Matt also runs a wood shop where he handcrafts custom made cabinetry and furniture.
Head Pole Vault Coach
Lance has been involved in track and field most of his life . He competed through the collegiate level as a pole vaulter. He has been a Physical Education teacher, and Track Coach for 25 years. Lance has coached 14 Virginia State Champions and 10 Virginia State runner-ups in Pole Vault. He has had many students go on to earn college scholarships and compete at the collegiate level.
Gymnastics Program Coordinator/Coach
Elle grew up in Kansas where she competed in gymnastics through level 8. Her favorite events were floor and vault. She began coaching recreational gymnastics in college and progressed to coaching competitive team the last 4 years. When she is not coaching, she is riding her horse, Argo. She also enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband Nate and their 3 dogs: Dede, Mya, and Milo.
Gymnastics Team Coach
Jessie has been in gymnastics for 19 years, and competed through the collegiate level at Liberty University. She has been a gymnastics coach for 6 years, including 3 years as a coach for Liberty University's club team. Jessie has a Bachelors Degree in Sport Management. She also has a passion for fitness, art, and graphic design.
Gymnastics Coach/Special Event Coordinator
Vickie was a competitive gymnast for 10 years, and achieved a VA state championship title in bars. She earned a BS in Psychology from VA Tech in 2017, and previously worked with at risk youth as a mental health case manager. Vickie has been a competitive gymnastics coach for 8 years. She thrives on making a positive impact on children while helping them reach their full potential.
Gymnastics and Fitness Coach
Christa has been into gymnastics and fitness most of her life. A former gymnast herself, Christa began coaching gymnastics 12 years ago. She has also taught group fitness classes and weightlifting for 6 years. She owns Align Athletics with her husband Josh, which specializes in Functional Fitness, as well as nutrition coaching. Christa is a certified Level 1 Cross-Fit trainer, and a certified NCI Nutrition Coach.
Gymnastics Team Coach
Liz has a background in competitive gymnastics and college cheerleading. She has a passion for working with children and is currently a P.E. teacher as well as gymnastics coach. She completed her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at Lynchburg College. She really enjoys working with children in the XCEL gymnastics program.
Kaitlin grew up in Pennsylvania where she competed through USAG for 8 years and then pursued high school gymnastics for 4 years. During high school, Kaitlin started teaching gymnastics classes as well as assisting with the competitive team. Kaitlin is currently a senior at Liberty University majoring in public health and global studies. When she is not studying or working, Kaitlin loves traveling and exploring new places.
Preschool & Cheer Tumbling Instructor
Caitlyn grew up in Ohio where she competed in competitive cheerleading for 8 years. She has experience in both competition and sideline cheerleading. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in English Education with a minor in German at Liberty University. She has a passion for teaching and helping children reach their maximum potential in all aspects of life. Caitlyn enjoys traveling and learning as much as she can.
DJ has a background in track and field and holds multiple school records for Randolph College. He received his MA in Coaching and Sport Leadership and also serves as an Assistant Coach at Randolph College for their Track and Field team. DJ is dedicated to helping athletes achieve and surpass their goals. He enjoys running, weightlifting, and listening to music.
Beginner & Cheer Tumbling Instructor
Lauren has been tumbling since the age of four and loves watching others progress and master new skills! She is currently a senior at Appomattox County High School, as well as entering her final year of the CVCC Early College Cohort. Lauren has participated in competitive cheerleading for 9 years, and competed in the USASF World Cheerleading Championships 3 times. Outside of cheer and work, she is active in volunteer work and loves to spend time with her family and friends!
Emily is a native of Central Virginia and has been involved in our community her whole life. She has been involved in athletics and education for over 20 years. She has coached from the high school level down to our preschool age children. Emily has a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction of Education from the University of Lynchburg and has a passion for working with children and seeing them grow on and off the mat.
Ryan grew up in Lynchburg. She was a gymnast who competed for 9 years. She also cheered, competing for 4 years and coaching cheer camps. She has always enjoyed fitness and worked through high school and college at gyms such as Gold's Gym and Planet Fitness. Ryan has a passion for helping children and her family even on occasions has taken some kids in through Safe Families.
AJ is from Ohio where she competed gymnastics for 13 years. She currently attends Liberty University where she competes as a level 9 gymnast while pursuing her BS in Exercise Science: Strength & Conditioning. AJ has a passion for helping young athletes reach their full potential and grow as individuals. She also enjoys CrossFit and challenging herself through new avenues of fitness.
Audrie grew up in WV where she competed in gymnastics for 11 years. She is pursuing a degree in Public Health at Liberty University where she also competes on the gymnastics team. Audrie loves working with kids because they are so fun, and she simply enjoys putting smiles on people's faces. She also finds joy in coaching gymnastics because it is a sport that has she feels has taught her so much.
